twelve to eighteen

The title Twelve to Eighteen refers to the average lifespan of a cat.
I made a photobook which contrasts two very different worlds: Paradise and the show.

In Paradise, cats rescued from the streets and from kill shelters are taken in, cared for, and given a chance to start over. It’s a place of healing, patience, and hope.

Opposite to this stands the world of cat shows, where breeding focuses on creating and presenting the “perfect” cat — an ideal defined by appearance, lineage, and competition.

Twelve to Eighteen explores what these two realities reveal about our relationship with animals,  about love, beauty, and the ways we try to shape or save what we care for.
